700,000 Americans.

NO VOTE IN CONGRESS.

The people of Washington, D.C. pay federal taxes, serve in the military, and contribute to our country every day.

But they don’t have voting representation in Congress.

That’s not democracy.

DEMOCRACY

DENIED.

More than 700,000 people live in Washington, D.C.

That’s more people than live in Vermont or Wyoming.

But unlike every state in the country, D.C. does not have voting members of Congress.

Even worse, Congress can override the laws passed by the District’s own elected government.

That means people in Washington, D.C. can follow the rules, pay their taxes, and participate in civic life, and still have their voices ignored.

No American community should be treated this way.

The PATH to

EQUALITY.

Statehood Means Equal Rights

The solution is simple: D.C. should be a state. Statehood would give the people of the District the same rights every other American expects:

WHY THIS

MATTERS.

democracy should include everyone.

The United States was founded on the idea that people deserve a voice in their government.

But right now, 700,000 Americans are still waiting for that promise to be fulfilled.

When people are denied representation, democracy is weaker.

When everyone has a voice, democracy works the way it should.
