30 Days of Disapproval
IT'S OFFICIAL! At the end of 30 Days of Disapproval, Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) is your "MOST DISAPPROVED LAWMAKER!"
In December, Congress attempted to overturn the results of a local ballot initiative approved by DC voters. Time and time again, Congress has moved to undermine DC’s laws.
In spite of that attempt, the DC Council has submitted Initiative 71 to Congress for the required 30-day approval. Congress has a 30-day window in which to passively approve or move a resolution disapproving the law. We urge Congress to leave DC's local laws alone.
So we turned all of this around. To channel the outrage of Americans about Congress' actions, DC Vote created 30 Days of Disapproval.
For five weeks, we featured lawmakers from both parties who voted in favor of this provision in the spending bill knowing very well that it would undermine democracy in the District of Columbia.
Below was the weekly schedule of featured lawmakers. Supporters clicked on a photo to read what actions each lawmaker took to undermine DC equality and then selected the lawmaker(s) they most "disapproved." We posted the "most disapproved lawmaker" at the end of each week and at the end of the challenge.
Wild Card Week (We brought back the most disapproved lawmakers from the previous weeks.)
Let's work together to assure national lawmakers don't undermine DC local democracy, donate to the Defend DC Fund today.
