Take Action

Change The Plate

Sign the Petition!

In 2000, D.C.’s locally-elected leaders made “Taxation Without Representation” the official license-plate motto to demonstrate the injustice experienced by more than 600,000 Americans who live in the capital city. The President supports a vote in Congress for the people of DC. But the license plates on the Presidential motorcade do not include the 'Taxation Without Representation' message.

DC Vote has filed a citizen’s petition on the White House website asking that the “Taxation Without Representation” license plate be placed on the presidential limousine before the inaugural parade. Petitions on the White House site that receive 25,000 signatures within 30 days are granted a response.

To reach 25,000 signatures, we're going to need your help. Here's how you can get involved:

  • Sign the White House petition
  • Reach out to your contacts, friends and family and ask them to sign the petition
  • Follow DC Vote on (@DC_Vote) and like us on Facebook
  • Share the petition link on Facebook and on Twitter with the hashtag #changetheplates
