In a letter released today, five members of the DC Voting Rights coalition urged members of House and Senate Appropriations Committees to refrain from placing unwarranted restrictions on the District of Columbia's 2013 budget. The DC Voting Rights coalition has over 100 member organizations.

The five organizations on the letter represent millions of Americans from around the country. The entire coalition plans to activate their membership in the event unfair policy "riders" are added to the 2013 spending bill.

During the last Congress, the House DC funding bill included language that barred the District from spending funds to provide abortions for poor women.
