On the eve of an
unorthodox hearing on Capitol Hill on DC's local budget, eight activists were arrested yesterday while protesting federal interference in local District affairs. They are:

"DC residents and their supporters are not letting up in this fight, and they are making an impact. Today Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, conceded that the District needs more budget control and pledged to work with DC Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton toward that goal," said DC Vote Executive Director Ilir Zherka.
