Will Senate democrats sell-out DC to reach a budget deal with House Republicans? Fifty years to the day that District residents were finally granted a vote in presidential elections, the DC Voting Rights Coalition will lead supporters to Senate offices to highlight the progress that still remains to be made.

The House has passed a budget bill that would prohibit the District of Columbia from using local tax dollars on public programs for AIDS prevention and access to reproductive health care.

In scheduled meetings with staffers, the Coalition will aim to discourage Senators from bargaining away District autonomy. DC Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton will meet with the group during a breakfast briefing before the meetings begin.
