DC Vote Honors 2010 Champions of Democracy
With emcee Chris Matthews, host of Hardball on MSNBC
WHAT: An evening honoring champions of democracy and calling for more aggressive protest
action to demand full, equal democracy for DC.
The individuals below will be available to the media to discuss DC voting
rights and the need for more aggressive protest action.
WHO:
Congresswoman Donna Edwards (D-MD)
Ambassador Elizabeth Frawley Bagley, Senior Advisor to Secretary of State Madeleine
Albright and U.S. Ambassador to Portugal, 1994-1997.
Nancy Reynolds Bagley, Editor In Chief, Washington Life Magazine and President of the Arca Foundation
Kathy Schmidt, grassroots organizer and plaintiff in the Alexander v. Dailey lawsuit that led to the creation of DC Vote
Andy Shallal, voting rights activist, artist and owner of Busboys and Poets
Daniel Solomon, founder of DC Vote and Champions of Democracy event chair
Ilir Zherka, Executive Director of DC Vote

- An original mural by honoree Andy Shallal will be displayed and auctioned
- Congresswoman Donna Edwards will present Smith Bagley's award to Elizabeth Bagley
