COUNCILMEMBER MICHAEL A. BROWN BLASTS
REPRESENTATIVE TRAVIS CHILDERS FOR HIS ATTACK ON DC GUN LAWS
"Brown Says, Childers Acts Like Paternal -Minded Plantation Owner and Needs to Back-off and Leave DC Alone"

(Washington, DC) Councilmember Michael Brown issued the following statement in response to Congressman Childers attack on DC gun laws:

"Representative Childers' (D-MS) statements about the District of Columbia gun laws and his pathological need to foist his own backwater opinions about the Second Amendment upon the residents of the District of Columbia are truly lamentable. Perhaps the Congressman should spend more time focusing on the needs of his own constituents.

The gun control issue in the District of Columbia has been settled by the federal court, which has determined that our laws are in compliance with the Second Amendment. For residents of the District of Columbia, this is an issue of civil rights and the fundamental right to determine, within our own communities and neighborhoods, what is right for us. We don't need an out-of-town congressman legislating on our behalf like some paternal-minded plantation owner."
