DC Vote to Honor 2009 Champions of Democracy

Washington, DC - Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13, DC Vote will host their annual Champions of Democracy Awards Dinner. This year's event is a celebration of Our Vote. Our Voice. Our Victory. Annually, DC Vote recognizes Champions of Democracy for their dedication to fulfilling the promise of full voting representation and full democracy for the 600,000 Americans who call Washington, DC home.

This year's event, emceed by Andrea Roane of WUSA9, will honor the following outstanding individuals and organizations for their unfailing commitment to DC's democracy and community: U.S. Congressman John Conyers Jr. (D-MI), Wade Henderson and Nancy Zirkin of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights and Akridge Real Estate.
