Occupy DC protesters continue hunger strike

The cold weather's proved too much for three members of Occupy DC who on Monday were five days into a hunger strike to the District's lack of voting rights in Congress.

The three – Occupy D.C. media organizer Sam Jewler and fellow protesters Kelly Mears and Adrian Parsons – moved from their "hunger strike pavillion" in McPherson Square to a room at St. Stephen's and Incarnation Church, an Episocopal church in Mount Pleasant.

St. Stephen's has for weeks been offering to let occupiers spend the night, but the hunger strikers are the first to take up the offer. They've gone without food for about five days now.

Those participating in the hunger strike traveled to Capitol Hill Monday to meet convince lawmakers to fight for voting rights and budget autonomy in D.C. Protesters tweeted that they may be meeting with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid Tuesday.
