Four Occupy D.C. protesters on a hunger strike for District of Columbia voting rights are planning to seek a meeting with a leading House Republican.
The protesters say they will refuse all food until Congress takes action to grant full representation to the nation's capital. The district has only a nonvoting delegate to Congress.
On Tuesday, they plan to gather at the office of Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., who chairs a committee that oversees the district.
Last month, Issa introduced a bill that would have granted the district more control over its budget. But district leaders rejected the bill because it included language restricting their ability to spend local tax dollars on abortions.
On Monday, the protesters attempted to meet with Rep. Hal Rogers and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
