WASHINGTON (AP) — A group of people arrested with District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray during an April protest on Capitol Hill have had their trial delayed.
Gray and most of the 40 other people arrested with him during a protest over the city's budget opted to pay a fine instead of going forward with a trial. But a few protesters decided to challenge their arrest in a trial that was to begin Monday.
Paul Strauss, a lawyer representing two of the eight defendants, said a judge delayed the trial until Nov. 15 so defense attorneys can review video and more than 100 photos prosecutors turned over Monday.
In April, the demonstrators sat in a roadway near the U.S. Capitol to protest new restrictions Congress placed on the city's budget, which it approves.
