Gray Meets Baghdad Politicians

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray on Thursday met with a delegation from Baghdad's Provincial Council at the Wilson Building.

The council is the overall government of the Iraq capital.

When Gray was told the 57-member Iraqi council was harder to run than D.C.'s 13-member council, he quipped, "I don't know about that. Sometimes 13 feels like 57."

The two cities share common problems -- each has a federal government that powers over them. Both also have budget problems.

Gray also emphasized that D.C. does not have a full vote in the national legislature while Baghdad does. He told them about his recent arrest during a protest.

The visit was part of a trip sponsored by the U.S. State Department.
