D.C. Voting Rights Protest Planned On The Hill

Source:      TBD.com
Date:      Wednesday, May 11, 2011
Author:      Editorial

Mayor Vincent Gray and D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown are scheduled to testify about District spending in front of a D.C. House subcommittee. In response, D.C. Vote plans the protest to "challenge our opponents to free DC's local budget from congressional interference."

Called a protest for "Home rule and local budget control," D.C. Vote slammed the House subcommittee:

"Subcommittee members say they want to 'help' DC with fiscal responsibility, though Congress couldn't even pass a final budget for this year, and the Mayor's proposal is balanced, once again."

Going to the protest? Will you be nearby? We'd love to read your stories or see your pictures! Email us: iwitness@tbd.com, or tweet us @tbd!
