17 Women Lead Voting Rights Protest Today

A women-led voting rights protest will take place today at Upper Senate Park (200 New Jersey Ave NW) at 5:30 p.m. According to DC Vote, this is the "first event of a strategic protest campaign to keep pressure on both our opponents and allies in Congress." Another protest is planned for May 11. .
The following women will lead today's protest:
- Yvette M. Alexander, DC Councilmember
- Muriel Bowser, DC Councilmember and #15 of the DC 41
- Mary M. Cheh, DC Councilmember
- Elizabeth Allen, esq Chair, DC Vote Board of Directorsere
- Billie Day, Past President, DC League of Women Voters and #19 of the DC 41
- Dr. E. Gail Anderson Holness, President, Interfaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington
- Maudine Cooper, President and CEO, Greater Washington Urban League
- Terri Lee Freeman, President, Community Foundation for the National Capital Region
- Corryn Freeman, #22 of the DC 41 and student activist, Howard University
- Laura MacCleery, Director of Government Relations, Center for Reproductive Rights
- Tiffany Reed, President, DC Abortion Fund
- Karen J. See, National President, Coalition of Labor Union Women
- Anise Jenkins, Stand Up for Democracy and #14 of the DC 41
- Jewell Fenzi, Women’s National Democratic Club
- Patrice Sulton, Vice President, DC NAACP
