D.C. Protesters Visit Boehner's Apartment

About 20 Washington, D.C. rights protesters planted themselves outside of Speaker John Boehner’s Capitol Hill apartment Thursday morning, chanting pro-District slogans for an hour as they waited for him to walk to work.
The local voting rights group, called D.C. Vote, said members are furious that the House’s continuing resolution would cut off funding for local reproductive health services.
“We were there because he has come into our home here in DC and is trying to tell us how to live and what to do,” said spokeswoman Leah Ramsay. “So we went to his home to tell him what we want.”
Members of D.C. Vote also disrupted a hearing on abortion last week.
The protesters attempted to deliver tea bags stapled to a letter detailing their objection. They said they wanted to remind Boehner that tea party groups sent him to Washington on a fiscal, not social platform.
Capitol Police officers stopped the protesters before they could knock on the door of his English basement apartment.
Boehner left his house around 8:45 a.m. surrounded by Capitol Police. He did not address the protesters. Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said the incident did not disrupt his morning routine.
