Washington Considers Renaming White House Street: MyFoxDC.com

WASHINGTON – The right to D.C. statehood may soon be front and center on street and gateway signs around the District. It’s part of a push by D.C. Council to rename the 1300 and 1400 blocks of Pennsylvania Avenue, NW and change gateway signs.

The idea is to call attention to the District’s fight for full democratic rights. Residents are being asked to weigh in with some of their ideas.

At a public oversight roundtable hosted by Councilmember Michael A. Brown Thursday night, a few names for Pennsylvania Avenue were suggested. They include:

- “Give DC Statehood Avenue”
- “DC Statehood Now Avenue”
- “Give DC Full Democracy Avenue”
