Childers should leave DC alone

Source:      Clarion Ledger (MS)
Date:      Tuesday, June 8, 2010
Author:      Elaine Reuben

What is 1st District U.S. Rep. Travis Childers' job?

I'd imagine Clarion-Ledger readers expect Rep. Childers to be busy representing Mississippi and its needs in Congress.

So would those of us who live in the District of Columbia. We wish he'd concentrate on that job, work for his constituents, and stop trying to (mis-)represent us.

His gun legislation would endanger residents of our city, as well as visitors and others who work here. It is also not his to decide on.

Would you all ask Rep. Childers to drop his co-sponsorship of a DC gun bill, meet with our local leaders, and help us get the rights of all Americans: to manage our own affairs.

Thank you.

Elaine Reuben
