Get Involved

Wisconsin

Our first task is to get in contact with editorial page editors in targeted states around the country. We need to encourage them to write editorials about DC voting rights and encourage them to use DC Vote and its award-winning Web site as the best source of information related to the DC voting rights movement.

Instructions for Writing Your Letters to Editors

  1. Encourage them to write an editorial supporting the Washington, DC, voting rights movement.

  2. Encourage them to go to DC Vote's media kit at http://www.dcvote.org/media/mediakit.cfm.

In the media kit, they will find information on DC Vote, the DC voting rights movement, the DC FAIR Act, the No Taxation Without Representation Act and recent editorials on the issue from newspapers across the country.

  3. Tell them why the issue is specifically important to Wisconsin.

"This issue is relevant to those in Wisconsin, because Rep. James Sensenbrenner chairs the House Judiciary Committee, which can move legislation to the House floor for a vote. Sen. Russ Feingold is the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, which can move legislation to the Judiciary Committee for a vote. Additionally, it's important for the people in Wisconsin to know that, ultimately, Congress must solve this problem. With no vote, the residents of America's capital are relying on the people of Wisconsin and others around the country to raise awareness and show support for addressing this injustice."

  4. Include your contact information.
