Get Active
DC Vote has complied a list of sample activities that help get the word out on DC voting rights on campus. Choose actions that fit your schedule and your style. Remember to e-mail Nell Schaffer at nschaffer@dcvote.org with pictures and a brief description of any activities to be featured on the Students for DC Vote homepage and a chance to be Volunteer of the Month!

One Week
- Party: Throw a dinner party where your friends can sign petitions, call their members of Congress, write letters, enjoy food and listen to music.
- Debate: Collaborate with other political or advocacy organizations on campus to host or participate in a debate about voting rights.
- Create a student group: Rally around DC voting rights and make a coordinated effort at educating students at your school using ideas from this list.

Become a Representative
Students for DC Vote Representatives serve as ambassadors for DC voting rights on their campuses and across the country. Two types of representatives exist. Campus Representatives serve as general liaisons between their schools and DC Vote. Organizational Representatives serve as liaisons between pre-established campus organizations and DC Vote. Students for DC Vote Representatives are encouraged to:
- Stay in Contact: Through contact with DC Vote, Reps will stay up-to-date about current DC voting rights issues. We want to hear from you as well. Let us know about what is going on at your school and how we can help you.
- Communicate: Representatives facilitate the flow of information by passing along updates about the DC voting rights movement to their campuses, organizations and media outlets.
- Educate: Representatives work to promote awareness of the issue through flyer campaigns, writing academic papers and media pieces, mentioning the issue in class, and holding educational events.
- Organize: Representatives work to promote awareness of the issue through flyer campaigns, writing academic papers and media pieces, mentioning the issue in classes and holding educational events.
- Dream: Please don't feel limited to activities on this list! Being a Representative is what you make of it. At the basic level, simply serving as a contact for Students for DC Vote on your campus is incredibly important to us. On the other hand, we encourage you to dream big. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." -Margaret Mead
