DC Abortion Bill Committee Mark-Up

Date:     Tuesday, July 10, 2012
Location:     2141 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, DC
Time:     10:00 AM

The House of Representatives is preparing to move again to restrict DC Home Rule.

On Tuesday, July 10th at 10am, the House Judiciary Committee will be marking up H.R. 3803, the 'District of Columbia Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act." This bill, sponsored by Representative Trent Franks (R-AZ), will ban abortions only in DC after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Rep. Franks recently told the Washington City Paper that the "District of Columbia is not the issue here . . . and when people make the District of Columbia the issue they're missing the point." Why, then, does this bill only apply to the District of Columbia? This is just another disgraceful assault on DC Home Rule.

Join us as we tell Rep. Franks to focus on his constituents in Arizona instead of on DC residents.

If you can't attend the mark-up, you can call Franks' office at 202-225-4576. You can also e-mail Franks' office (NOTE: It’s likely that your e-mails will be filtered, and will not reach Franks, so we suggest you call instead).
