Join DC Vote, the Citizens to Save D.C. Gun Safety Laws, and numerous other local and national pro-democracy organizations for a protest on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at 8:00 AM on Independence Avenue between South Capitol and First Streets, SE (across from the Longworth House Office Building and two blocks north of the Capitol South Metro Station – Blue and Orange Lines). We will be protesting efforts by the House to pass legislation that will dismantle DC’s local gun safety laws.
The protest will have two shifts – one from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM and one from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM.
We encourage ALL pro-democracy supporters to call or send a fax to the offices of House members sponsoring efforts to pass the legislation to let them know how you feel about Congress interfering with DC's gun safety laws. We also encourage you to email this message to your friends and family.
Read H.R. 3193, also called the "DC Personal Protection Act."
Read a summary of the bill and a list of the its 228 cosponsors.
A limited number of tickets to the House Gallery will also be available at no cost for those interested in watching the House as they bring this bill to the floor for a vote. Gallery tickets will be distributed at the protest.
