We were proud to honor DC Vote founder and philanthropist Daniel Solomon as our Champion of Democracy. His vision, hard work and dedication to ending DC's denial of democracy have enabled DC Vote to flourish. Daniel's outstanding commitment to social justice makes him a true Champion of Democracy.

Annually, DC Vote recognizes Champions of Democracy for their dedication to fulfilling the promise of democracy and for the many ways they celebrate the rich heritage and vibrant communities of Washington, DC. These men and women represent the very best of American excellence and cherish the United States as a beacon of freedom and democracy for the world around us.

Champions of Democracy exercise their liberties to speak out about the injustice of living under a system where the governed do not have a vote in the election of those who govern. Through their actions and words, they defend our freedoms and promote our ideals. Champions of Democracy understand that being disenfranchised affects all aspects of civic and community life.

A distinguished philanthropist and DC Vote founder, Daniel's vision, hard work and dedication to ending DC's denial of democracy have allowed DC Vote to grow and flourish. Helping to establish DC Vote as an institution, Daniel served not only as the chair of DC Vote's founding board, but also as a devoted volunteer for community and outreach events, communications, and development during DC Vote's early years. His outstanding commitment to social justice and nonprofit issues makes Daniel a true Champion of Democracy.
