DC Voting Rights Act - Mississippi Advocacy Toolkit
Representative Travis Childers (D-MS) is trying to derail a bill that would grant DC residents a voting member in the House of Representatives. He is attempting to attach an amendment to the DC Voting Rights Act (S.160/H.R.157) that would rewrite DC's gun laws. Nearly 600,000 veterans, teachers, union workers, firefighters, police officers, and homemakers live in our nation's capital and pay taxes. Yet, they have no vote in the Congress that governs them.
Rep. Childers is spending his time in Washington trampling on DC democracy when he should be focused on the needs of his constituents.
As a Mississippi voter, you are uniquely positioned to lend your voice in support of voting rights and democracy for DC residents. Tell Rep. Childers to stop interfering with DC's right to local democracy and focus on the immediate needs of his own home state of Mississippi.
